First time in four years, cricket fans will see tri-series involving the world's top three cricket teams - Australia, the finalist Sri Lanka and the World Cup champion India. The Cricket Australia has decided to reorganize the tri-series tournament in 2012 as a way to offer the required number of matches for sub-continental television rights and to put the Australia, Sri-Lanka and India against one another in cricket field.
The Tri-Series in 2012 will be hosted by the Australia. As a part of Future Tour Programs, the Australia Tri Series 2012 tournament is prepared by International Cricket Council (ICC). The Series will start from Feb 05, 2012 with the first ODI match between Australia and India, which would be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne at 14:20 local time.
There will be total 15 matches in the series, including three finals. It is expected to be more exciting series, as India had an outstanding tournament last time when they went to Australia. All three teams - India, Australia and Sri Lanka will play with each other four times. In the preliminary rounds, there will be 12 matches and the top 2 teams will move into the finals.
In the finals, the teams will have to strike the other at least two times in order to get victory in the Australia Tri Series 2012. After winning the World Cup successfully, the Indian contingent is well prepared about the series. Conversely, Sri Lanka - the runners up of World Cup 2011, is hopeful about doing well in the series with a new captain. Australia has also made some significant changes in the team, including a young captain.
