T20 cricket world cup is the most entertaining and interesting cricket tournament which held every two years by ICC (International Cricket Council). Just a few days remain to welcome fourth most awaited cricket tournament ICC Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka. The fourth ICC event will be held from 18th September to 7th October 2012. This year, Sri Lanka has got honor to arrange this great world cup series in their home town. The schedule, teams and fixtures of the tournaments are officially declared by ICC. Total 12 teams including 10 Test teams and two qualifiers (Ireland & Afghanistan) will participate in this tournament to give their best by playing 27 matches including 12 qualifier matches, 12 quarter finals, 2 semi finals, and 1 final.
ICC has parted total four groups A, B, C, and D of 12 teams. Each group is set with 2 main teams and one qualified team. In the first round, teams have to play match together with their group member to reach at the quarterfinal round. This is the first twenty20 world cup which is held in an Asian country. Last three T20 series had been conducted in South Africa, England and the West Indies respectively. The cricket fans who live in Sri Lanka will have great opportunity to watch two big cricket tournament live- 1St Sri Lankan Premier league and 4th ICC twenty20 World Cup on their hometown.
India, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, West Indies, South Africa, Ireland, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are included in the 12 teams. The matches will be held in three selected ground of Sri Lanka i.e. Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota; R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo; and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy. Both semifinal and final will be held in R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. People across the world are expecting more from their nation’s teams. At this time, all test teams are in their best forms; but we can not forget other 4 qualified teams, because they are also able to give tough fight to well-known teams of cricket world as well throw a lot of surprises off the shore.
